Home again, home again

After a brutal trip to England and one of the most expensive taxi rides I've ever had the pleasure of paying for, L. and I made it safely back home to find the house still standing and the garden to have turned into a jungle in our absence.

The stinging nettle grew magnificently (as did, I found out today, its nasty little stingers)

The pear seems to have been very productive (at least in the leaf department)

Some of the many rose bushes are in full bloom

And, concerning the pond, we were shocked to discover our 'pond weed' is, in fact, a mass of irises

In less happy news, the very dry weather managed to evaporate much of the fishes' water, so we frantically filled the poor pond back up

And had a very worrying few days wondering if the fish had made it....fortunately, I'm pleased to report four have been sighted so far, though they seem to be pouting at the bottom. I've been feeding them extra portions of fish food as an apology and hope the missing fifth will show himself soon....

(The frog was not so coy and very kindly made his presence known the first night)

Why everyone should visit Yellowstone

I am now solidly convinced that everyone should visit Yellowstone National Park at least once in their lifetime.

The reasons, I believe, are quite clear-
Historical value:

Yes, my friends, everyone should visit Yellowstone.

More overseas adventures

L. and I had a superb belated honeymoon last week.

It started with a trip to Chico Hot Springs:

Our room was small, but clean and cute:

We had a leisurely soak in the warm pools and followed it up with an amazing dinner ('Best baked brie ever' according to L.)

And, of course, what would a most excellent dinner be without the wine?

We had a therapeutic soak before bed and another before breakfast. Then, it was a light breakfast in the nearby garden:

L.'s fingers required a quick rinse off by the nearby pump.

Then we checked out and headed for Yellowstone...
